2011 TAAE Presentation Brainstorming Page

This page is designed for brainstorming our ideas for our collaboration. In my experience in working with wiki for collaboration, it may be helpful for each person to choose a color when we edit or critique one another. It is also helpful to post a note and date after we have edited each other.

It seems that we need to submit only 1 form up to four presenters can be submitted on 1 single form.
Ok, I will start with our session description. Since we are a team go ahead and edit, critique or comment as I initiate. "T"050710

Utilizing Project/Technology Based Learning on our campus has promoted acceleration, motivation, and college readiness as well as improved the rapport among students/teachers and student/student. This session will cover: the use of Project/Technology Based Learning to promote student success; use of technology applications such as Moodle and Wiki’s; cross-curricular applications; and evidence of student success.

Acronym Just in case we want to ave one. I will start with one.
Utilizing Project-based Technology Under Radical Navigation

I think Terika's title is pretty darn cute! It represents our ideas and our school. "M"

Acronym = UPBTURN -->UP-TURN. Works for me. We can really play the "since we have started using technology and projects on our campus, our demographics have improved. This is our 'up-turn.'"
-- It is Friday night and my brain is fried so if this sounds cheesy or just plain "huh?", let me know. My feelings will not be hurt. Don't forget we need to do bios also.
What segments of the presentation do you want? I can take the introduction -- talk about Navarro, the faculty, the students, and a general overview of the program.
1. Intro
2. technology, moodle, wikis
3. cross-curricular apps
4. projects & student success, evidence

On behalf of Unity here are some suggestions:
Title/Acronym = iCLICK - Innovative Cyber Learning in Core Knowledge
Session Description: Navarro High School from San Antonio ISD is a non-traditional school of choice. To better reach our 21st century tech savvy students, teachers have collaborated to integrate cross-curricular projects utilizing Moodle, Wiki's and more to increase student engagement.

Please keep in mind that the session description will be used in the conference program. We can make it as lengthy as we want; however it is at their discretion to use all or part of our description.

Pam I think I changed your tone of "green" as I was trying to select my font color. JFYI, Ms. York has expressed interest in joining the team as a presenter. S on 5/10/10

I really like iCLICK! I like that description it is a good summary for what we are doing and is very "catchy." I like Pams break down of how to divide the presentations as well. Perhaps we can divide the presentation into 5 parts since Mrs. York has expresed intrest in joining our team. TB 5/10/10

Lets us the Title/Acronym = iCLICK - Innovative Cyber Learning in Core Knowledge to go along with the description if everyone agrees. I like that one! TB051010.

I agree eleyva-5/10/10, I'm looking at example bios to see how detailed we want to get.

I like & agree with the iCLICK.
The description needs a few tweaks:

Navarro High School in San Antonio ISD is a non-traditional, school of choice. Their motto -- "Where Every Student Graduates" -- is embraced by every member of Navarro’s faculty and staff. Pam 5/10

Awesome. I think this is it. I would suggest we let the acronym (iCLICK) and the description rest for awhile and come back to it another day. But this whole thing is just so awesome. The E building is just buzzing about utilizing this wiki and the presentation. Kudos to us.-eleyva-5/10/10

How about bios:
Estella Leyva, CTE Educator:Persuasive. Humorous. Motivational. Stella uses her business background to inspire teachers to incorporate innovations in technology in the classroom.

Great we have something to use. FYI. I just checked the amount of characters on the on-line submission form and there is a 500 character limit. TB 051010

Well the description is 756 words so Pam you did a great job so if you wouldn't mind doing some trimming. Also the first bio is 500 character limit the other 3 are 200 character limit. I will look at an example where a bio has been combined. -eleyva 5/11/10

Terika, how's this if the both of us join in on the first bio which is 500 words?
Estella Leyva and Terika Baker

Based on our description, I believe we should stick to the x-curricular project-based applications to include Moodle and Wikis. We are already utilizing MOODLE and I think we should get a group of students to utilize the full potential of creating a Wiki for the purpose of having those students work on one project to encompass 2 or more subject areas. eleyva 11/19/10

Which students? Do you have any of the G-Force students? Miriam, Brittany, Pedro, Maria M., Olivia. I have all 4 of the girls 5th period, and I think they would be willing to participate in a cross-curricular project and/or wiki. But what do we want them to do with it? I do not have experience with wikis except what I am doing right now.
J
For our presentation, we have that the session will cover:
1. Introduction to Navarro

2. Technology: (emphasis on) moodle, wikis
3. Cross-curricular application and projects
4. Evidence of student success
Time for Q & A
It would be nice if we can show either a video or actual student projects. Maybe even some of the teacher's moodles? PS 11/18
